After using terry squares sporadically for 20 months, I finally jumped on to the mcn bandwagon and bought a giraffe print Cushie Tooshie Couture! This all in one fits my toddler really well and is so easy to use. We got it from Nest Nappies in Brisbane (very helpful!) and I love it! It is SO much nicer than using sposies and MUCH easier than using terry squares! And cuter too ;)

My first green nappies were Minky pocket nappies from a store set up to support a Chinese orphanage for special needs children in Beijing. The nappies were very reasonably priced at RMB49 (less than AUD10) and I think this orphanage does great work, so they were the perfect way to tempt me into trying cloth nappies. I'm glad I did - the nappies do their job well and I think I'm getting hooked. The store is www.assuntastore.com - a great source for some very priced cloth nappies (and nappy making supplies) for a good price!

After reading about MCN on a parenting forum and falling in love with the idea I immediately bought an ebay cheapie, cute but a blatant lie regarding it being an AIO. It has a layer of nylon as its waterproof layer!?! With about 3 layers of cotton for absorbency! It looks good on DD's baby elephant atm! Next I bought a BBH bamboo fitted during the 1st nappy hunt and the addiction began!

My first MCN was a rainbow BB from eBay. It cost $10 delivered. It was a one size pocket nappy with front snaps.

I love pockets because they dry faster than all in ones and I can put any booster into it.

The first MCN I bought was bright orange Bitti D'Lish. After using it that first time, I was in love!! I went straight back to the store and bought every other boyish colour in stock.

First MCNs we used were PeaPods that we saw in a baby shop, when I was pregnant with #3. They seemed ok, then I discovered BBH Magicalls, and they were fantastic for us.

I slowly bought more, and was sad when he toilet trained but I didnt sell them on, instead I stored them. Those first nappies are now being used on our #4 bub and are going strong.

Our stash has become much more eclectic now, and I've even started making my own - partly for enjoyment and partly so I can customise them to my little ones needs.

I can't imagine going back to disposables fulltime like I did with #1 and 2, MCNs are such a part of our daily life that you hardly notice the extra 'work'

I had heard about MCNs but was doing my 'over research' thing instead of biting the bullet. Then one day I answered a phone at work, it was one of our customers who sold baby products. I asked about their nappies and dragged my husband along to a baby market. We bought 3 pocket nappies and inserts that day after the lady demonstrated them.

This sounds lame but I was so excited to see 'in the flesh' what I'd only read about on websites. I was so happy with them I looked at them all the way home in the car.

Now, having used them on my bub, I'm sold on MCNs. So easy. I am only up to 6 nappies now (all different brands), and intend to slowly keep chipping away at my stash!

My first MCN was a fitted Bamboo nappy (Bamboozle) by Tots Bots. I bought a bulk pack from cottonbottom.com.au.

I chose the Bamboozles for a couple of reasons: I wanted a fitted nappy to increase absorbancy, and I also wanted them in bamboo as it is a "green" material and also very absorbent. What I didn't realise is that maximum absorbency = long time to dry, especially in winter. I also didn't realise that fitted nappies are quite bulky, so much so that my baby struggles to fit into her onesies with a fitted nappy!

I still use them at night, as that's when she wees the most, but I have bought AIOs for ease of use during the day.
