Hi!
My name is Miranda Knapton. I am a wife, a mother, business owner and currently working full time at a 9-5 job. I am currently living in Christchurch, New Zealand but am originally from Bunbury, Western Australia. My only son turned one 3 weeks ago and when I was pregnant with him I didn’t show until I was about 22 weeks pregnant. So as you can imagine for a shopping mad girl like myself I was quite keen to get stuck into the beautiful maternity clothes I had seen around. I went out shopping with my sister-in-law when my pants just wouldn’t do up and I was seriously depressed by the options available in Christchurch. She had her children many years ago and thought this was the norm and wondered why I wasn’t buying up large! So, instead of complaining about clothes that looked like they were for a 90 year old or someone had taken some old curtains and sewn them into a top, I thought I would set about fixing the problem, this was the birth of My Belly.
My Belly is specifically aimed at women who like to look and feel nice in the clothes they are wearing but don’t have to worry about the price tag. My Belly aims to provide good quality, original clothing that pregnant women will not hesitate to wear and wear again. The website, www.mybelly.co.nz, is clean and simple to navigate and has a great zoom feature where you can closely inspect the detail of each item before you make a purchase. It’s the next best thing to being able to touch and feel, online style! My Belly is having a huge sale starting from 1 April 2010 (not April fool, promise) with a massive 20-25% off all dresses on the site and discounts off shorts and some of the beautiful tops available. Have a look at www.mybelly.co.nz to see if there is something there for you.
My Belly supports the environment by using cloth nappies (they are so easy, why wouldn’t you?), reducing waste and recycling what waste is produced and most importantly for me is conserving water. After living in Western Australia you become quite water wise but those in New Zealand just think it will never be a problem for them. The way there are continual rolling droughts all over the country year after year, the hydro dams are either shockingly high or power-cuttingly low the folks of New Zealand should listen to their western neighbours about ways they can improve their water usage or they will end up in a similar situation all too soon!

When I was pregnant I found it hard to find tops that weren’t skin-tight. It is nice to show off a pregnant belly, but it’s not nice to show off your love handles as well!!! So some looser fitting tops would be good.
Hi Miranda,
I’ve had a look at your website and the clothes look beautiful and comfy. I only wish that I had known about them when I was pregnant! I’ll be recommending any pregnant friends visit your website.
Thanks, Belinda
I have been looking for something to birth in. With my first, I used an oversize shirt but it was terribly baggy – just to get the length, it wasn’t very glamorous either. Searching around, I have found the birthing wrap dress from fertile mind, but that is it. Honestly I can’t really justify spending so much money on such a garment and was wondering if you might consider creating/stocking something similar. Preferrably made out of organic cotton or soft hemp so it is enviro friendly too.
