Meet Our Guest: Little Bear Bums

Let’s meet Catherine, the proud owner of Little Bear Bums:

Hi, my names Catherine and I live in Perth WA with my wonderful husband and beautiful 7 month old baby girl. After living an exciting life working in Zoo’s here and in England – working as an elephant trainer – I returned to Perth where I met my lovely husband and after many years together we have been lucky enough to have our beautiful baby girl.

About Little Bear Bums….

My store is called Little Bear Bums which has come about because our little girl is our Little Bear. When she was born my hubby called her Little Bear, and as I was about to change her nappy one day I said to her “Let’s change your little bear bum”.

After the birth of my little girl I started using Modern Cloth Nappies. It worked out so much cheaper than disposables and also so much better for the environment, not to mention they are just so cute. However, most of the people I spoke to had never heard of them and think of cloth as being the old terry flats and thought it was cheaper and easier to use disposables! It was this that made me decide to start an online store so I could stock and sell my favourite brands of MCN’s and any other beautiful baby accessories that I use on my baby girl, and get the word out in my local community that there is a better, easier and much cuter way to cover their babies bum than disposable nappies.

Our Planet Matters!

Having spent years working with animals and specifically in Zoo’s I have always been aware of environmental issues and the impact we have on it. When I found out I was pregnant I started looking into cloth nappies – I was determined to use cloth like my mom had with me – but after practising on teddy bears folding and pining nappies, I decided there had to be a better way. I was pleasantly surprised to find out about Modern Cloth nappies. I love them, they are quick easy and environmentally friendly. I recommend them to everyone. There is now no excuse for there to be so many disposable nappies building up in our landfills when modern nappies are as easy to use as disposables.
