Meet Our Guest: Ollie Rose

Let’s meet Kobie, who together with her sister Jemma, runs Ollie Rose:

Hi, I am Kobie and together with my sister Jemma we run Ollie Rose.  Jemma has two boys aged 2 and 7 and I have two girls aged 3 and 12 weeks.

We have been doing Ollie Rose for a few years now and have never lived in the same town, always with several hundred kms between us.  Our greatest distance is about to occur with my family moving to Darwin and Jemma being located in WA.

About Ollie Rose…

Ollie Rose was born out of shopping frustration.  Living in small country towns and not being able to find clothing I liked,  I began making my own and this lead to making them for others and eventually I took the plunge and opened a store. From this it slowly grew to what it is today, and as well as making our own items, we also source other handmade items we really love.

Our store is named after our very much loved Grandmother, Olive Rose, who was always called Ollie by her friends.

Our Planet Matters!

One of our environmental concerns is landfill and recycling.  Jemma started and runs our local Freecycle organization where people are encouraged to recycle items they would otherwise have thrown to landfill.

I think as a society we all could be doing so much more to reduce the amount of waste we throw out, even if it is only something small like composting our food scraps.

When you visit Ollie Rose, make sure you have a look at…

1.  Giraffe Rattles – these little guys are one of our signature and most popular items.  They are a firm favourite with many mums.

2.  Babushka Shirts – Babushka dolls are fabulous, so many unique styles, and one of my favourite items are our tank tops featuring our babushka design.

3.  Barley & Birch Organic Shirts –  These organic shirts are also made with non toxic inks and come in some funky prints.

3 of my favourite sites are:

1. Style Collective – I love checking in to see all the latest items and articles.

2.  Rudy and the Dodo – is a great place to shop for unique items.

3.  Babyology – a fabulous site full of new products and items.

I hadn’t thought before browsing Ollie Rose some years ago how important getting more individual clothing would be in places with a small range of shops – even where we are in the metro area, I swear every other boy is wearing Ben 10! (including my own!)

What range caught your eye at Ollie Rose? I can see why the Babushka items sell out so quickly – it is simply a great WORD, unique, pretty and lovely looking!

  2. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ollie rose! I have bought a few goodies for my boys and am awaiting the arrival of Baby Number 3 to see if we then need giraffes, monsters or babushkas!

The quality is gorgeous and the designs are unique so you wont see them on every other kid at the park.

Yay for ollie rose – we love you and it’s nice to hear you love us too! julia (
