I’m Samantha, wife and mother of 4 kids aged between 12 and 13 months. I thought I had finished at 3 till I met my wonderful husband Justin and decided to bring beautiful Jackson into the world.
I’ve always been a mad knitter. I started at the tender age of 9. (The same age as my daughter and son were when they learned to knit!) I still have the very first book about knitting my mother bought me to keep me quiet! Such was my determination to learn how to knit. My mother is also a very crafty lady.
I had the name ‘Knitmadmum’ on ebay for years and thought of it as a bit of a joke until a facebook friend encouraged me to set up a fan page only a few months ago. Very quickly my fan list crept up to 500! I love making handmade things for people and I have a strong desire to encourage more people to pick up the needles again and make things by hand instead of buying ‘throw away’ stuff. We live in such a disposable culture which doesn’t think it has time for hand made things. As a mother of 4, I can testify that time is short but I make time to create hand made things because I want to teach my children that handmade and homemade is the best there is! That’s why I’m mad about knitting and all things woolly!

My speciality is funky, beautiful, hand dyed garments to be used with Modern Cloth nappies made from 100% organic yarn which is Australian grown. I also sell hand dyed yarn to knitters and crafters.
What concerns me the most is that people don’t realize the damage we do by having a ‘disposable’ mind set. If it doesn’t work, doesn’t fit or doesn’t suit, we throw it out. One of the reasons I love op shopping is because I find so many great things are given away which are great quality. My Grandfather used to call his local tip ‘Woolworths’. That’s an attitude which has been passed down through generations in our family since the Great Depression.

Got a pattern question? or not sure where to start? Let me know if I can encourage you in your crafting as well as provide hand knitted woolly goodies for your baby or child.
