Meet Our Guest – My Friend Matilda

Let’s meet Bek, the proud owner of My Friend Matilda:

Hi I’m Bek the face behind My Friend Matilda. I am the proud mother of my 18 month old son, Kayden. He is our very own little miracle boy who was waiting around for 5 months before his mumma realized she was pregnant! We have had a whirlwind couple of years and My Friend Matilda began when he was four months old.

About My Friend Matilda

We have recently transitioned our website to just focus on selling high quality, removable wall decals. When I was pregnant with Kayden there was a real demand for contemporary decals and there was a definite lack of this in the Aussie market.

My Friend Matilda is named after our Cavoodle, Matilda. She was our first born furry child and frankly…Matilda sounded better than My Friend Kayden (sorry Kayden!). We have a really supportive Facebook page that is growing every day and we encourage our fans and customers to join up, grab bargains and of course share their newly purchased decals with us!

Our Planet Matters!

I have always been aware of how precious our environment is however when our son Kayden was born I realized how important it was to ensure we set the best example for him as well.
So we have always used reusable nappies and I have recently started a worm farm which I ensure I show off to all our visitors!

When you visit My Friend Matilda, make sure you have a look at…

Check out our eco friendly page..we have lots of specials at the moment!

We have just released our new fabric decals (a removable and reusable range!)

Decals are not just for children!

3 of my favourite sites are:

  1. Cloud Love Baby: I have just purchased the most adorable bib from here!
  2. Scoopon: Because every mum loves a bargain!
  3. Our Facebook page – we would just love you to join us today!

Let’s talk more!

So are you one to prepare bubs nursery before or after the birth?

- Bek

Meet Our Guest – Tinoki

Let’s meet Gabrielle, the proud owner of Tinoki:

Hi, I’m Gabrielle and together with my sister Danielle, I run Tinoki.
I’m a mother, an Orthodox Jew and a feminist. I believe that to share this world we need to know a little about how other people think, believe and behave. I also believe that we owe it to our children to do the best we can to bring them into a world of love. Our family is the most important element of our lives, so fostering those relationships is important.

About Tinoki

Tinoki is an online shop which is all about babywearing. We started last year as I became more and more enamored of babywearing, and frustrated by the small range available within Australia. We now carry many different brands and styles of carrier.
We believe in the importance of bringing babywearing options to Australian parents. I love wearing my babies, and I believe that every baby deserves to be worn, and that every parent should be comfortable doing so. To this end we stock woven wraps, ring slings, mei tais and buckle carrriers. We are happy to work with people to help them find the right carrier for them.

Tinoki also stocks some dolls and toys, amber teeting necklaces and hazelwood necklaces to help with reflux.
Tinoki is the Hebrew word for ‘my baby’. It just felt right to name the shop – our ‘baby’if you will – for that. And of course, Tinoki is all about helping people to carry their own babies.

Our Planet Matters!

- It is important to us that the products we offer are made without harmful chemicals. There are so many more chemicals in our environment than there used to be, and it is important to keep our children away from these. It is also very important that our products be made in a sustainable way with all players being paid a fair wage for their work. We also love the fact that by promoting babywearing we are making it easier to help parents minimize their ecological footprint.

When you visit Tinoki, make sure you have a look at…

1.  – Our babycarrier range includes woven wraps, mei tais, ring slings and buckle carriers
2.  – When it is cold or wet having babywearing outer-wear can make life much easier, so check out our ponchos.
3.  – We also stock healing jewelry, specifically amber necklaces for teething and hazelwood for reflux.

3 of my favourite sites are:

1. Baby Carriers Downunder – I love the wealth of information, the stories, the photos that are here. Without this site, and the associated google group, Tinoki would never have happened.
2. The Baby Wearer – This is a huge site with a busy forum full of people who love babywearing and promote babywearing. If you want to show off your babywearing pictures, ask advice about how to tweak your carrier, address your concerns about babywearing, this is the place for you
3. Joyous Birth – for information about birth and pregnancy in Australia. This is where you need to go if you are interested in understanding your choices and options around birth.

Let’s talk more!

We’d love to hear your babywearing stories and experiences. Has anyone ever made a strange comment to you about babywearing? Have you ever had a day suddenly get better because you were able to put a child on your back (or front or hip)? Please join our facebook page or visit our blog and share your stories!

Meet Our Guest – 9 Months More

Let’s meet Jennifer, the proud owner of Nine Months More:

Hi, I’m Jennifer and I’m from Melbourne. I have 3 kids 12, 3 and 1. Puberty and teething at the one time, Yay!!
I run Nine Months More, an online recycled maternity shop. My last baby was a bit of a surprise and I had gotten rid of all my maternity clothes. When I went to buy some I found them ridiculously over priced. Being an op shopper from way back I searched high and low for somewhere who sold them second hand. I had no luck, and so Nine Months More was born.

Our Planet Matters!

We at Nine Months More are strong believers in the reduce, reuse, recycle campaign. It bothers me greatly the amount of pollution caused by creating a new garment that is only worn for nine months. I have always been interested in doing what I can to help the environment, and reduce my carbon footprint wherever I am able. Nine Months More is run on green energy and use recycled paper price tags and invoice paper among other things.

When visiting our site be sure to check out:

1.  Here for super, super cheap specials!!
2.  And here for items that can be used all year round!!
3.  And importantly, here, to see what people have to say about us!!

Three sites I’d really like to recommend you visit:

1. Mums and Bubs Gifts – For reasonably priced gifts for both Mum’s and babies with fantastic customer service
2. Clothes Lime – For gorgeous, quality recycled children’s wear.
3. Pregnancy Shop – For all preconception to birth products

Well that’s about it. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and remember if there is anything that you are looking for and cannot find on our site just email us at info@ninemonthsmore.com.au or if you have items to sell. If there’s something you believe should be at Nine Months More feel free to post a comment!!

Meet Our Guest: Real Nappies

Let’s meet Liz, the proud owner of Real Nappies:

Hi! My name’s Liz and we live in Auckland, New Zealand. We come over to sunny OZ at least 5 times a year to visit you lovely people at the various expos all over the country. We have 2 kids: Emily who is 10yrs and Joe, 7 years.

About Real Nappies…

Come and check out our site: www.real-nappies.com.au
We specialize in modern cloth nappies: 100% cotton inner and an incredibly waterproof cover.
We wanted to take the guesswork out of cloth nappies: we did this by designing a simple, easy to use nappy, which we have put together in takeaway packs.
If you have ever wondered what an earth you need to buy, check out our bestselling Birth to Potty Pack, every nappy you will ever need until bubs is out of nappies.

Plus we are the ONLY cloth nappy company that guarantees our nappies to last through 2 babies! Wow!

When our son, Joe was born 7yrs ago in the UK we began using cloth nappies, we wanted to make cloth nappies more mainstream in Australia and NZ: hence we’ve taken away the frills and concentrated on what makes an awesome, good quality nappy that actually works and at a low cost to parents.

Why are we called Real Nappies?

Well because it says what we are, we’re the ‘real’ deal and we stand by our products. That’s why we’re used in Hospitals and Daycares and by thousands of parents all over the world!
Join our Facebook Page and sign up for our newsletter to get exclusive ‘Member Only’ Deals and special tips.

Our Planet Matters!

I guess the image that will stay with me always is the mountain of used disposable nappies waiting to go to landfill. The thought that one tiny little baby will produce aprox 1 tonne of nappy waste is horrifying! One day my kids will probably have their own kids and they will have their own kids and yet the disposable nappies we throw away now will still be around even then, where are we going to put them all?
We have a beautiful planet – we want it to stay that way, for the sake of an extra 5 minutes a day, using cloth nappies really wasn’t a difficult decision to make!
Plus there’s something so much nicer about picking up your baby for a cuddle when they are wearing cloth rather than plastic!

When you visit www.real-nappies.com.au, make sure you have a look at:

1. Our Unique Guarantee Page – Find out about our unique 2 child guarantee.
2. Our ‘Specials’ Tab has some great deals and change frequently.
3. Our FAQ / Advice Tab is always worth a look for some great tips.
4. Our Blog Page has great articles and customer’s findings that are constantly updated.

3 of my favourite sites are:

1. Spread A Deal – I love this site as it’s always got awesome baby bargains to check out daily, it’s NZ based but will also deliver to Australia. Definitely a site to bookmark!

2. Baby Center – great information site for new parents right up until preschool!

3. My Green Nappy – well of course as you are already reading this you know how great this site is lol!

Let’s talk more!

We’d love to hear from you, and would love to know what other products (not necessarily nappies) would you like to see us selling on Real Nappies that would make your life easier?

Meet Our Guest: Totriser

Let’s meet Olga, the proud owner of Totriser:

My name is Olga Cahill and I live on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, NSW. I have a very patient husband and two divine sons – 5 & 7 years old. I have spent half my life divided between Sydney and Melbourne where I was born.

About Totriser:

I’m pleased to introduce my practical and fun boosters to you. It all happens at www.totriser.com and you can tag along with me on Facebook www.facebook.com/totriser.

You might like to take a peek at how Tot Riser came about:

Children are often uncomfortable at the dinner table in the early years. When children outgrow their dedicated high chair they move to the family chairs at the dinner table and still need the boost up. Many families resort to a variety of home-made solutions with varying degrees of success. In my circle of friends and my own experience, it seems that the odd cushion and even phone book is popular.
I was frustrated with the cleaning and lack of stability of these items and really they are not aesthetically appealing either. Frustrated with the mess and lack of enthusiasm my children showed at the table I knew there was something wrong. I took a good hard look at the situation before me and found they looked super uncomfortable. How can you avoid making a mess, stop fidgeting and look interested in a meal when you are chin height to the dinner table? That was it!!! I put myself at their level and the answer became clear. I made it my mission to do something about it back in September 2009 and the Tot Riser was born.

Our Planet Matters!

Our Environment humbles me. I find myself wondering what our legacy will be for our children and beyond. More and more I make my decisions count and my opinions vocal.. Sadly it has been a real learning curve for our generation but the up side is that at least my children’s generation knows early on just how vital their choices are. We are waste free where possible, we make many of our own gifts and cards and we are fastidious in recycling. I am proud of the messages my boys carry with them.

When you visit Tot Riser, make sure you have a look at…

1. Our developing gallery pics of happy TOTs
2. How to care for your Tot Riser… they have been known to multipurpose and fly through the air like Frisbees!
3. Our Shop

3 of my favourite sites are:

1. Cadence Health -Great Aussie advice on feeding Bubs
2. Kids in Australia great national network for mums and product
3. Etsy – all things handmade, vintage and just plain inspirational

Let’s talk more!

Hmmm… Just because it is something to dream about; maybe you could tell me What was your best ever family holiday destination?

- Olga

Meet Our Guest: iish fly

Let’s meet Annette, the proud owner of iish fly:

Hi I’m Annette @ iish fly. I started out as a WAHM 4 years ago, before I had to return to paid employment when my husband became ill. I have 4 kids ranging from 4-18 years, and live in regional NSW . I now run my business in every spare second I find in the day, and often burn the midnight oil getting orders ready and getting new stock ready to be listed on the site.

About iish fly…

When I started out 4 years ago, my speciality was embroider corduroy nappies. I loved them, and it seemed for a long time everybody loved them too, but as my free time became less, we moved away from the embroidered corduroy nappies, onto stretchy prefolds and soon to come back will be covers. My inspiration to start my nappy store was brought on by my boredom and making newborn sized nappies for baby number4 . I thought I would try them on eBay, and as they kept selling I decided to open a web store. We named our business iish fly (pronounced eye-sh fly) from baby talk “nice fly”, its a very long story in itself. We offer a newsletter to all customers who sign up, to be updated about new products and promotions happening, or alternatively follow us on facebook.

Our Planet Matters!

I have always been environmentally motivated, so using cloth nappies was never a decision we had to make, it was simply a away of life. Every day we make decisions in our business based on environmental choices. Buying items that require less transportation, using recyclable plastics and cardboards in our packaging. our decisions are always based on “reduce reuse and recycle”. If our business model does not fit into those concepts we move to find a solution that does. Supporting the environment really not that hard to do.

When you visit iish fly make sure you have a look at…

1. Our beautiful soft stretchy prefolds
2. Our Mini iish nappies for skinny babies and EC’ing Parents
3. Our gallery of iish fly babies

3 of my favourite sites are:

1. Madimo Creations (has the best hair clips and baby items!)
2. Earth Hour (never underestimate the power 1 hour can change your perspective on life)
3. Bunnycup Embroidery (the cutest embroidery designs I have ever found)

Let’s talk more!

I chose cloth to save money and not leave behind disposable nappies long after I am gone. What is your reason for choosing Cloth?

Meet Our Guest: Cloth Nappy Co.

Let’s meet Laura, the proud owner of Cloth Nappy Co:

Hi everyone,

My name is Laura and I am a work at home mother and the proud Owner/Founder of Cloth Nappy Co.

I’m married to a French Property Manager and have a little girl, Isabelle, who is 11 months old. I spent 7 years in the south of France with my husband before moving back to Sydney in 2008.

About Cloth Nappy Co:

Cloth Nappy Co is a new business that officially started in January 2011.

I first saw how cloth nappies have been modernised during my time in France. I lived in a very small village in the mountains and the people and lifestyle there was typically provincial. Everything from the food you ate to your water usage and waste disposal was as organic as possible. Most people grew their own vegetables and salads etc and life was all geared around family and good food!

So, in my dealings with women and their babies I saw just how fantastic modern cloth nappies were. I decided that when the time came for me to have a baby, I would also use them.

After moving to Australia I was delighted to find that these modern cloth nappies were taking off here too. When I had my little girl I started trying different types and was inspired to share these wonderful nappies using an online store that sold a range of them to suit any family lifestyle.

I named the store Cloth Nappy Co as I wanted something that would be easy to remember and had relevance to the products I sell.

After stocking cloth nappies I decided to make sure it would be a great ‘one stop shop’ for all things organic for baby’s bottoms and nappy change time. In the store you will find a range of cloth nappies, organic wipes and accessories and new to the store are organic arm/leg warmers. For those who do not want to commit to cloth, we sell eco disposable and compostable nappies. These nappies do not consist of harsh chemicals and are approximately 75% biodegradable. They are also rated on their environmental impact during fabrication in the factories.

I am always researching new products so new collections are constantly being added.

Every week we have new specials on a range of products.

Our Planet Matters!

We believe in protecting our beautiful planet for future generations. Not many people know that no disposable nappy ever made has ever biodegraded. They say it will take an estimated 400 years for one nappy to break down. When you consider the millions of people in the world using hundreds of disposable nappies each year, it is a terrible waste. We need to actively do our part in preventing this terrible pollution that is impacting our earth every day. I hope to get councils involved in encouraging people to use cloth.

Meet Our Guest: Little Billies

TURN YOUR LITTLE TERROR INTO A LITTLE ANGEL

Announcing the arrival of the exciting new range of Reward and Routine Charts from Little Billies, Positive Parenting Tools. Capturing children’s imaginations to bring about positive change in behaviour has been the driving force behind the creation of Little Billie’s personalised, magnetic and reusable reward and routine charts. Colourful, fun designs visually depict a range of activities and behaviours to illustrate your child’s progress through positive recognition and reward designs.

Little Billies has always done its job in engaging children in bringing about a positive change in behaviour. We are now offering a great selection of designs to suit the tastes of our little ones and in some cases to fit in with the decor of the room. Capturing children’s imaginations in a positive and playful way to help parents to be able to have more play in their day.

We are so excited about these new designs” said owner and mumpreneur Sarah Dawson. “I created the first range for my own children and they worked so well I just had to share them with other families. They’ve been incredibly successful in helping children to learn new habits in a way that builds self esteem, independence and confidence.

Sarah also said “Children often get quite focused on a particular theme like dinosaurs, butterflies or cars and we are delighted with the designs that we now have on offer to further engage children in positively changing their behaviour

Little Billies now offer a comprehensive range of coordinated sets which include a Reward Chart, Day Chart, Week Chart and Morning and Evening Routine schedules. New design themes include ‘Woodlands”, “Fairy”, and “Rockets”. They also are customised with each child’s name, giving a sense of ownership which is a big winner!

Founder, Owner and Head Designer Sarah Dawson started Little Billies when she was unable to find suitable products on the market to support her belief that learning should be fun, that children love to be involved and that building a child’s self confidence needs to start early. Through the use of interactive visual aids that cover all stages of your little ones precious early years, you can achieve positive change with Little Billies innovative range of charts.

Grow positive little people with Little Billies positive parenting tools,
