Nappy Cakes are the yummiest cakes you will never eat – but you can devour them with your eyes in this Modern Cloth Mini Trend!
I’ve been collecting nappy cake images for a while now to show you a wide range of nappy cake styles and makers. These are popular gifts for baby showers and new arrival gifts. They combine cloth or (often) disposable nappies with other useful or pretty baby items as an attractive and eye-catching gift idea.
You’ll find nappy cakes come in ‘tiers’ of one, two, three or four, all presented prettily, even made personal with baby’s name.
Let’s have a look at a range of baby cakes; the images will take you to the online shop where they or a similar nappy cake is available.

Let’s have a look at our first ever gallery of ‘Green Promise’ nappies donated by a range of cloth nappy shops and related sites down under.
By clicking on the photo, you will be taken to the Sponsor Page for each Green Promise Nappy, where you can find out a little more about it before popping over to the site to find the answer to a question the sponsor will set.

Are you looking for a blue nappy for your baby?
Blue Nappies can be masculine and boyish nappies, evoke feelings of calmness and peace, represent the sky or water, and be worn by either a boy or a girl. I love blue, yet I realise I don’t even have a blue nappy or training pants!
Time to go shopping…
Let’s have a look at a gallery of blue nappies offered at a range of cloth nappy shops down under.
By clicking on the photo, you will be taken to the site the nappy is from, where you can get your own such nappy as an in stock, order or commission one.
The blue nappy can also be found in the mini trend of boys nappies, though that range has other colours as well as the ‘blue for boys’ theme!

Are you looking for a black nappy for your stash of modern nappies?
Over six and a half thousand people search the web for ‘a black nappy’ each month – 6500! I’d NEVER have guessed.
Let’s have a look at a gallery of black nappies. I LOVE putting these together, and I am getting faster at it. By clicking on the photo, you will be taken to the site the nappy is from, where you can get your own such nappy, although some of them are limited editions, and may even be sold out!
As they do seem to be less common than other colours, you can always ask for a custom made black nappy. Lots of nappy makers welcome these, and ’semi-custom’ nappies, where you can select the colour of the nappy insides or the colour of the snaps perhaps.
Why? Let’s have a think about some reasons why a black nappy might be a highly sought after choice in modern nappies.
1. A Black Nappy is Striking, Eye Catching: a Strong Statement?
There is no doubt that these nappies look GREAT! They are striking, and very eye-catching. A black nappy is as opposite as you can get from a white disposable nappy! Perhaps for that reason it is a statement… A black nappy is a strongly coloured nappy – you need to be brave to put it on your baby – even in your wash! (not really!) However, a black nappy will mean, assuming it is also black inside, that stains are of little concern, as they will be disguised by the colour.
2. A Black Nappy is a Great ‘Canvas’
Black is a neutral colour, technically a ‘neutral’ and not a colour at all! It is a great background to make other colours stand out. As you can see from the examples I found for this mini trend gallery, a black nappy can be a good choice for a boy or a girl. Vibrant and luscious, a black nappy is lovely to look at, and that is well and truly part of the fascination mums have for reusable nappies.
3. A Black Nappy is a Bold and Beautiful Gift Idea.
I’d be brave enough to give a black nappy as a gift. They are gorgeous! A black nappy will scream “Not Disposable” and will be a great ambassador for nappy change – as it will provoke interest and invite conversation about the modern cloth nappy. Be prepared to give a spiel and send admirers of your black nappy to MyGreenNappy.org!

All modern cloth nappies are the more ‘natural’ nappy alternative, however, you can choose to favour organic cotton nappies, nappies with more sustainable fibres such as hemp and bamboo, and unbleached nappies for your baby.
Organic materials- (Organic Hemp, Organic Cotton, Organic bamboo) – favour these choices as the best environmental choices in terms of sustainability. Unbleached fabrics– (Unbleached Cotton, Unbleached Hemp, Unbleached Bamboo) – these are choices you can favour if you are keen to support retailers who support a reduction in the use of bleaches in preparing fabrics, as this is not good environmentally. Plus, mums with babies who have sensitive skin (remembering that a baby’s skin is half the thickness of ours and they spent most of their day in a nappy) find these natural nappies are more beneficial for their baby, minimizing irritation, rashes, crying.
Organic fibres are grown with consideration for the soil – avoiding articficial fertilizers, pesticides and chemicals that impact on the longer term sustainability of the land for short term profits. In time, the soil is made barren, and even more chemicals are needed as the ecological balance is lost. With organic fabrics, you will pay more, but can be reassured that they are more ecologically sustainable into the future. Less synthetic chemicals and fibres is always going to be more beneficial. Hybrid fibres, or blended fibre organic nappies are also a more environmentally aware choice too. Do what you can!
Aim for one organic or unbleached nappy in your stash to support and educate about these issues.
Let’s see some of the organic or unbleached nappies available in Australia and New Zealand:

What’s popular, fashionable and trending in the world of modern cloth?
Modern Cloth Mini Trends regularly explore a different theme in modern cloth in a visual display of products.
Each mini-trend has it’s own gallery, from which you can explore the retailers who have contributed to that particular theme. The products are all representative of their shop; you may be able to visit and buy one of those nappies; you may have to commission one!

What’s popular and trendy at the moment in the world of modern cloth nappies that sport the colour green?
For this, our first ever Modern Cloth Mini-Trend we’ve asked our Nappy Doula’s which green nappy they like, so you can check out a few of the popular colours and colourways available.
Mint, Pistachio, Lime, Verde, Olive, Camouflage, Spring, Moss, Myrtle, Emerald, Celadon, Asparagus, Jade and Teal.
These are just some of the names describing the colour green. Each evokes a different image.
Green is associated with nature, being the colour of plants, so it represents life, health, growth, fertility, regeneration, rebirth and renewal, and health.
Let’s see what they have to show us in green modern cloth nappies:
Green represents the environment, so a green nappy is also a symbol of eco-consciousness when choosing a nappy.
Fortunately it is also a unisex colour, so it is perfect that all our 100 Green Promise Nappies will be green!
