Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies: 3 Ways To Use A Disposable Nappy In A More Eco Aware Way.

You are wanting to use disposable nappies, but are curious about the Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies?

There are many options – hybrid nappies, biodegradeable disposable nappies, flushable nappy pads that go inside washable covers – you will definitely be able to find an environmentally friendly disposable nappy to suit your needs, your eco- conscience, your budget, family values and lifestyle.

Eco disposable nappies are only ‘better’ than regular disposables when disposed of thoughtfully. If they are wrapped in a plastic nappy bag, tightly tied up and thrown in the bin to go to landfill, well, not much benefit will be had for your investment in a more envally friendly type of disposable nappy. The good news is that the more moden nappies have biodegradeable parts, packaging  and you can easily learn below several ways of reducing the environmental impact of disposables even further! Great for your eco karma.

How to deal with your Biodegradeable Disposable Nappies:

1. Empty with Ease your Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies:

You can empty wet nappies into your compost heap – this massively reduces the volume of weight going to landfil. The urea and crystals degrade, and in fact the urea breaks down into a fertilizer that speeds up composting. Mix the pulp and crystals in and see your garden grow – the crystals are the same as those used to drought proof your garden; put them to another use – this is one way of ‘recycling’ a disposable nappy!

2.The Wonders of Wiggly Worm Farming your Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies:

Moltex OKO eco-nappies can be worm farmed. Other Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies have packaging or parts that the worms would enjoy with other paper and food scraps. They will eagerly process biodegradeable pulp and packaging and liners into worm castings and worm ‘tea’ for the delight of your garden.

3.Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies: Say “No” to Plastic Nappy Bags!

When you need to throw a disposable in a regular bin, make sure it isn’t in a plastic bag, look for nappy bags made of cornflour or other biodegradeable materials, preferably not perfumed, either. Better still, get a reusable wetbag and take the nappy home to be emptied or worm farmed. You can include a cloth with some essential oils added to mask nappy odours too.

At those times when your weekly budget is a barrier to using Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies full time, consider using them just for nights, or for one day a week, even just for going out to be a role model and encourage others to use eco disposable nappies at least part-time as a way to go greener.

Part of the benefit of Environmentally Friendly Disposable Nappies is in their manufacture – suppliers source different materials and production processes to reduce the ecological impact of the nappy while thinking about the sustainability of making these nappies by the million into the future. You will pay more for biodegradeable disposable nappies, but you are making a commitment to protecting the future of our planet for our children when making this choice, so well done!
