Which is better if you’re planning to have more than 1 bub in modern cloth nappies: Sized cloth nappies or one-size nappies?

Carly from Pikapu Modern Cloth Nappies:

This is a really personal choice, for me I loved the one size fits most. I had a 2 year old and a new baby in the one nappy. For me it meant that I only had to grab one type of nappy that would fit both of them. Also is a great cost consideration, you get to use that nappy for the entire 2-3 years and really get your monies worth. Our pikapu’s have been through both our children and would last another if we decide to have more.

Jenny from Baby Bare:

Sized nappies can be great – but the reality is that with a few years between bub’s many parents complain that the elastic is gone in their nappies by the time they pull them out to re-use them. So in reality your nappies may not last after being stored away. You also face the cost of replacing nappies several times, usually within a short period as baby’s go through a few sizes in their first 12 months.

A one size nappy may not fit as well at different stages, especially with a newborn. Most require the baby to be a month or so old before they fit into the nappies. But usually from a few months till toilet training you can get a good fit. With so many options you can find a nappy that is still trim and fits your baby right through.

I honestly believe if a parent want’s sized nappies they are best to get newborns and then a OSFM as its hardest to get a good fit with OSFM on a newborn.

Jodi from MCN Lovers R Us:

I think the best bet is to get mostly OSFM and some small nappies for the first month or so (if bub needs smthg smaller) and larger nappies/pull ups etc if needed when babies get bigger.

Kate from Bouncing Sprouts:

– One size fits most (OSFM) pocket nappies with poppers are great as they can be used from birth to potty training.
